Comments 0 | Recommend 0PORT HURON, Mich. (AP) - U.S. and Canadian rescuers have suspended their search for a person who may have jumped into the St. Clair River from the Blue Water Bridge.
Witnesses told police they saw a person jumping from the bridge connecting Port Huron with Point Edward, Ontario, about 11:45 a.m. Tuesday.
Ontario Provincial Police Constable Chrystal Jones says an abandoned vehicle with Michigan plates was located on the bridge's eastbound span nearer to the Canadian side.
Lt. Dennis Maurey of the St. Clair County Sheriff Department's marine patrol says divers searched the river until about 6 p.m.
Ontario Provincial Police and Port Huron Fire Department boats, and a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter, also aided in the search.
Maurey says the search was suspended because of darkness and was to resume at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
