Ex-Detroit Tigers catcher Brad Ausmus says he's glad he missed Roger Clemens' appearance before a House committee in Washington.

Clemens and former personal trainer Brian McNamee told their contradicting stories under oath about whether Clemens used steroids and human growth hormone. Ausmus now plays for the Houston Astros. He says the controversy is upsetting because Clemens is a friend

as well as a former teammate. Ausmus missed the televised coverage because he was flying from San Diego to Kissimmee, Florida, where Astros pitchers and catchers reported to training camp today.
