Help for Michigan Families
Michigan families struggling to make ends meet could soon get a helping hand.
Food stamps and other programs to help feed families could receive an estimated increase of $19,000,000 in federal funding under a new farm bill.
The bill was approved by the House yesterday and provides more funding for food banks and fresh fruit and vegetables for poor schools.
It also provides assistance to soup kitchens that have been strained by increasing demand.
President Bush has threatened to veto the bill, but the House margin is enough to override his ruling.
