Filling Michigan's Fridge
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The Food Bank Council of Michigan asked for help in "filling Michigan's fridge" today at Lansing's farmer's market.
Marking the 19th annual Michigan Harvest Gathering, the Food Bank Council asked for donations to raise food and funds for nine regional food banks in Michigan.
"Michigan Harvest Gathering is one way that we have to raise some money and food to help stock the shelves of the food banks, despite some of the cuts we're facing in the state government," said Executive Director of the Food Bank Council, Jane Marshall.
Since its inception in 1991, the Michigan Harvest Gathering has provided more than 14 million meals to residents.
This year, the organization's goal is to raise $650 thousand and 300 thousand pounds of food.
