Governor Signs New Terrorist Law

July 18, 2008 - 6:17 PM

Governor Granholm has signed a law to help fight terrorism.

The new legislation will withdraw state funds and investments from companies that do business with nations accused of government-supported genocide or terrorism.  The legislation will affect pension investments in companies that deal with Iran, Sudan and Syria.

All are on the U.S. State Department's list of terror-sponsoring nations.

Supporters say it is one of the most comprehensive divestment policies in the nation.
