Plans are underway in Jackson County to build Michigan's next casino.
Firekeepers Casino is being built on a 77 acre site between Marshall and Battle Creek about half and hour west of Jackson.
Once it opens, the $300-million development will employ 1,500 and feature Las Vegas-style gambling. The casino will be run by the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi who fought for the casino for more than a decade.
The group plans on recruiting staff in January to work at the casino which is just off I-94 at exit 104.
