Michigan Delegation Wants Help for Auto Suppliers
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Michigan's congressional delegation wants President Barack Obama's auto task force to lower fees for companies participating in the government's auto supplier support plan.
The $5 billion support program was created to help stabilize the nation's auto supply base and help keep parts flowing to General Motors Corp. and Chrysler Group LLC.
The Michigan delegation says suppliers can participate in the program if they pay fees of 2 or 3 percent.
Michigan's lawmakers said in a letter to the task force released Friday they want the fees reduced to 1 percent or less.
The request comes just a few days after the Obama administration said it did not plan to offer additional aid to suppliers.
