Sound off on Smoking Ban
It's a move that's sweeping the country and all of us right here in Michigan could soon be seeing a statewide smoking ban as well.
Some bar owners say a ban on smoking will kill their business but there are some resteraunteers who say it could be the best thing that's ever happened to Michigan.
"If this law goes through we really have nothing to loose and everything to gain because I'm sure there's a lot of people out ther who have deliberately not chosen to dine here for that very reason because it's smoke free," said Cindy Miller, owner of Center Court Cafe in Jackson.
Cindy Miller opened the Center Court Cafe almost a decade ago and says she always wanted the place to be smoke free.
"Right from the beginning we wanted to set ourselves apart from all the other little diners in Michigan Center and that was one way we could do it," said Miller.
She tells us even though the anti-smoking legislation will probably help her business, she doesn't neccessarily agree with it.
"I think the government gets too involved in personal choices like that," said Miller.
For now she will continue to cater to her non-smoking customers and get ready to welcome the smokers she hopes will try something new once they have a little more incentive from Uncle Sam.
