Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero returns from Washington on Tuesday evening.
He spent the day asking for a financial plan for the auto industry.
Bernero says he and other state officials were able to convince about half of the lawmakers in Washington that rescue funds are a good idea.
ABC 3 spoke with Bernero over the phone Tuesday, he says he won't be satisfied until a plan is agreed on.
"We are resolute that this will be done, that we will save the auto industry and our community, and we all agree that we will come back, work harder, if need be we will come back with more mayors and community leaders and we will prevail upon the congress to do the right thing," Bernero says.
Mayor Bernero says he will return to Washington if need be.
