Fatal Fall

A construction worker falls to his death in an elevator shaft.  

Fire officials tell us it happened Thursday morning at the Ottawa Power Station in Lansing.

They say the man was working on the accident fund project there, and the fall was accidental. 

Officials we spoke with say the worker was killed instantly by the fall.

"You go there with the mindset that you're going to help somebody and when you get there, and find there's nothing you can do--it's never an easy scene," said Steve Mazurek, Lansing Fire Department.

Officials are not releasing the name of the victim until family members have been identified.  Stay with ABC 3 for the latest.
