Canoeist Drowns in Allegan County
Comments 0 | Recommend 0SAUGATUCK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - A 31-year-old man has drowned after falling out of his canoe on an Allegan County lake.
The Grand Rapids Press and television stations WZZM, WOOD and WWMT report the man was canoeing with friends Wednesday on Ox Bow Lake. The sheriff's department on Thursday identified him as Daniel C. Johnson of Chicago.
After falling out of the boat, he appeared to be stuck in weeds in about 8-10 feet of water. Rescuers unsuccessfully attempted to revive him.
Authorities say the people he was with briefly looked for him before calling 911.
