South Lansing House Explosion
Comments 0 | Recommend 0A mother and her two children are injured after a house explosion Tuesday afternoon.
It happened just before 4:30 in the 100 block of west Everettdale in South Lansing.
The house has been the home to a number of possible crimes over the last month including home invasion and arson.
Neighbors said they hoped that those incidents wouldn't escalate, that no one would end up getting hurt, but tonight a woman and her two kids are in the hospital after the events continued and this afternoon an explosion rocked the house.
"I just heard a big poof, like air blowing and glass went flying across the road," said Dennis Jones, who lives across the street.
Windows are gone and the charred front door flung open.
"We made a full alarm response to it," said Lansing Fire Chief Tom Cochran.
The cause of the explosion is being investigated right now by the Lansing Fire Department.
The police have obtained a warrant to search the residence that is no stranger to mayhem.
Authorities told ABC 3 Tuesday night that they have an open arson investigation after two cars were ablaze in the carport June 2, and two separate home invasions.
One in mid-May, another three weeks later in early June.
No word yet on what caused the explosion that led to a small-scale fire.
The condition of the mother and her two kids unavailable at this hour but the mother was taken from the scene in a full arrest.
Police wouldn't say whether or not they have suspects in the other crimes, the arson and home invasions they're currently investigating.
