Phones to Fight Against Domestic Violence

November 20, 2008 - 7:10 PM

Several businesses are joining in the fight against domestic violence by collecting cell phones in their stores.

State Senator Garcia is heading the effort.

The cell phones will be re-programed and distributed to domestic violence victims for the sole use of contacting emergency officials when in a crisis.

Ace Hardware in Mason is taking part in the effort.

"It's for a good cause and it was easy for us to do, we just put a box up front and people drop 'em off," said Mason Ace Hardware manager Chris Iott. "I get a good response out of the community on this."

Cell phone drop off locations are as follows:

Coastal Communications, 333 W. Grand River, Brighton

Auto One Hometown Wireless, 9981 E. Grand River, Brighton

K-Mart, 2500 E. M-21, Corunna

Ace Hardware, 340 S. Cedar, Mason
