The economy putting the breaks on many 4th of July celebrations.
Even with gas prices about $1.50 cheaper per gallon then they were last year, many people we spoke with say they simply don't have the cash to hit the road this weekend.
Instead, they plan to celebrate indepence day right here in Mid-Michigan.
"Oh probably just staying home with the daughters and the family and making some noise," said Brad Burley.
"I'm just gonna stay around here. The economy is really bad so travelling and stuff is just not gonna happen," said Heather Hulsebos.
Today in Lansing we found gas at $2.61 a gallon.
The state wide average is $2.65 a gallon.
