Lightning is to blame for a three house power outage in Jackson county today. 

Consumers Energy tells ABC 3 lightning struck a sub station causing more than 8,000 customers to lose power around 11A.M.  Power was restored just after 2PM. 

Several area schools closed early due to the outage.
