Copper Theft

July 24, 2008 - 4:45 PM

A Jackson man will remain behind bars for stealing copper.

Officials say they responded to Williams Welding Repair off Brooklyn Rd. after receiving a call that someone had stolen $800 worth of copper welding wire.

The company had already contacted a local salvage dealer and found a similar wire had been sold by a Jackson resident.

Officials were able to track the suspect and soon found the 53-year-old Jackson resident was already lodged in the county jail pending charges of unlawful driving away an auto and drunk driving.  The suspect was interviewed and confessed to the larceny.
