Funeral set for slain Jackson, MI police officer
Comments 0 | Recommend 0JACKSON, Mich. (AP) - Funeral services for a Jackson police officer who was killed in a shootout have been scheduled.
Services for 26-year-old James Bonneau will be held Friday at St. Michael Lutheran Church in Canton. Viewing begins at 9 a.m., followed by a 10 a.m. service. A procession to United Memorial Gardens in Plymouth will follow.
Family visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday. A public visitation will he held 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Bonneau was killed Tuesday after he and a Blackman Township public safety officer entered a home belonging to 63-year-old Elvin Potts of Jackson, a city about 70 miles west of Detroit. Police say Potts revealed a handgun and fired three times at the officers, killing Bonneau and injuring 22-year-old Darrin McIntosh.
Potts was fatally shot.
