$10M gift will aid UM's $102M law school expansion
Comments 0 | Recommend 0ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - The University of Michigan has received a $10 million gift from a suburban Detroit developer and his wife toward the $102 million expansion of its law school.
The money comes from Robert and Ann Aikens of Bloomfield Hills.
Robert Aikens is a commercial real estate developer and a 1954 graduate of Michigan's law school.
U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts spoke at the September groundbreaking for the renovation and expansion project.
In recognition of the gift, the university is naming one new building the Robert B. Aikens Commons. It will have two-stories and 16,000 square feet.
The project also includes a new four-story class building and is scheduled for completion in 2012.
