Victoria Levin, wife of Michigan Congressman Sander Levin died Thursday at the age of 74.

The congressman's office said she had battled breast cancer for several months.

Levin was a Detroit native and was married to the congressman for more than 50 years.

Governor Granholm released a statement on Levin's passing saying, "Vicki Levin was a great woman who was dedicated to her family and to public service. Dan and i were always touched by Vicki's warmth and care, and we continue to model the raising of our kids on the incredible example that Vicki and Sandy gave us.  We are sad for the Levin family and the Michigan family who have lost a sharp mind and a gigantic heart."
