Benson, Schuette pace fundraising in Mich. races
Comments 0 | Recommend 0LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Democrat Jocelyn Benson raised nearly $228,000 last year for her campaign seeking to become Michigan's next secretary of state.
Democrat Janice Winfrey filed paperwork for her candidacy this year and isn't likely to file a report for 2009.
Republicans Anne Norlander and Michelle McManus each reported Monday they had raised more than $100,000 while Cameron Brown just missed that threshold in the secretary of state campaign.
Republican attorney general hopeful Bill Schuette (SHOO'-tee) reported Monday he had raised more than $400,000 last year. That's expected to lead the candidates in both parties.
Republicans and Democrats will choose their 2010 candidates this spring and summer in anticipation of the November election.
