LANSING (AP) - Former Michigan Gov. James Blanchard says the Democratic National Committee is so focused on punishing Michigan and Florida for moving up their primaries that it has lost sight of winning the November election.
The DNC stripped the two states of their national convention delegates for breaking the rules. Neither has found a way to get the delegates seated. Blanchard says Friday during the "Off the Record" public television show that the DNC members have put the rules ahead of common sense and "lost their way."
DNC spokesman Damien LaVera says the DNC is working with Michigan to find a way to meet the requirements. He says he doesn't think Republican candidate John McCain will win Michigan.
Blanchard supports Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton.
