MSU and U of M to Get Money to Study Energy Issues

The University of Michigan will get $19.5 million over the next five years to study materials that could be used to turn solar energy into electricity.
Michigan State University will get $12.5 million over five years to investigate the underlying chemical principles of materials used to turn heat into electricity.
The grants were announced Thursday by the U.S. Department of Energy.
About $377 million will go to 46 projects nationwide. Some of the money comes from the federal stimulus package.
