Jackson Officer Struck by Vehicle

In Jackson County- an officer and a teenager are in the hospital after being hit by a drunk driver.

Officer Jen Smith was responding to Elm and Ganson street Sunday for a fight call.

While trying to talk with a 19-year- old male about the incident- both Officer Smith and the teen were hit.

Officer Smith is recovering at home with minor injuries, the is teen is in the U of M Hospital with a broken collar bone, a concussion and knee injuries.

Police say the driver of the car is a 35-year-old Grass Lake man. He was arrested for drunk driving causing serious injury.
