September 11th is the 7th Anniversary of the terrorist attacks that took place in New York and Washington, D.C.
To remember the victims and heroes, Governor Jennifer Granholm is asking all flags to be lowered and a moment of silence be observed at 8:46 a.m., the time the first plane crashed into the north tower at the World Trade Center.
There are also several events going on around the Mid-Michigan area to remember victims of 9/11:
8:00-10:45 a.m.: Events at Michigan International Speedway, Brooklyn, MI
8:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m.: Reflections: The American Funeral at The Lansing Center, 333 East Michigan Avenue.
10:00 a.m.: Riverfront Park Memorial Service with Mayor Virg Bernero in Downtown Lansing.
10:00 a.m.: Delta Township Fire Department memorial service, 7710 West Saginaw Highway, Lansing.
12 p.m.-1p.m.: "Cry out America" prayer gathering at the Ingham County Courthouse, 341 South Jefferson, Lansing.
1p.m.-7p.m.: "Mason Cares" Volunteers cleaning fire stations to honor firemen and those lost on 9/11 at James M. Pelton Memorial.
