TJ Maxx Fraud/Compactor Death

In Eaton County officials tell us a shoplifting suspect who fled a Lansing TJMaxx has died after being crushed by a trash compactor where she was hiding.

Eaton County Sheriff's Department responded to the Lansing Mall just before ten Monday morning after a report saying two woman sprayed a security guard with mace at the TJ Maxx.

Officials found one suspect behind a trash compactor at the store, she wouldn't tell officials where the other woman was hiding.

Soon after officials received another call about a woman stuck in a trash compactor behind the Goodwill Store across the street from the TJ Maxx.  She was pulled out of the machine, but died in the hospital from her injuries.

The woman was identified as 26-year-old Tyree Tate of Delta Township. The name of the other suspect has not been released.
