House Leaders Speak on Tax Reform

House republicans say democrats are putting re-election before tax reform

It's turned into a blame game. House and Senate republicans are speaking out against House democrats saying they're putting re-election ahead of state tax reform.

At a press conference in our capitol Wednesday, Senate majority leader Michael Bishop said work is needed now to repeal the Michigan business tax surcharge.

Bishop says, "The 22 percent on top of Michigan business tax is overly oppressive aggressive and burdensome on businesses in this state and it's our responsibility to repeal that surcharge and take an aggressive bold step in the right direction."

We also spoke with democratic house speaker Andy Dillon who responded to the calls by saying comprehensive, not piecemeal, tax reform is what's best for Michigan businesses and families.
