MSU Celebrates Tobacco Prevention Day
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Each year, on the third Thursday of November, our nation celebrates Tobacco Prevention Day.
This Thursday members of the Colleges Against Cancer chapter at MSU took part in the event, holding a campus rally and putting flags in the ground every 17 seconds, representing the number of deaths caused by lung cancer.
"It's really important to educate individuals about preventative treatment for cancer," said student Jennifer Segal. "It's the only way we're going to have it stop being a killer."
As part of the program, students could also trade in a pack of cigarettes for a Jimmy John's sandwich.
