Incoming Spartan All American Recruit Edwin "ROCK" Baker Teams Up With An American Hero
It isn't every day that you get to meet a true American Hero. Some misguided people would consider the best football players just that: Heroes. Well, athletic accomplishments should be celebrated, but when a true hero steps forward there is no doubt which one is man-made heroism and which will stand the test of time as TRUE HEROISM.
Joining the Spartan Nation in one of the best recruiting classes in the country in 2009 is the heralded RB Edwin "ROCK" Baker. His accomplishments are so great that he is an Army All American.
I can tell you from interviewing him on many occasions that he is a tremendous young man who understands how blessed he is to have the talent that he does. He is also smart enough to know that he met a real hero.
Rock was teamed up with a fellow Michigander and also a member of the Spartan Nation in CPT David Green (MSU '93, Hemlock High School '89). CPT Green will be one of the 90+ soldiers honored and recognized at the U.S. Army All American Bowl on Jan. 3, in San Antonio, Texas. It is a game that Rock very well could shine in, but more importantly will honor CPT Green.
CPT Green received a Bronze Star while serving in Afghanistan. Today's game will be a great time to look at not only future Spartans, but to honor a Spartan and better yet, a true American Hero for serving the call of his country.
Two great Spartans, making the Spartan Nation proud!
