Is Mark Dantonio and Spartan Football About to Lose a Top Coordinator to Another School as a Head Coach?
Comments 0 | Recommend 0
ABC 3 Sports has learned and was the first to report last night at 10 PM and 11 PM that MSU Offensive Coordinator Don Treadwell is being seriously considered for the Miami of Ohio, and Eastern Michigan University Head Coaching jobs. This information was gained from sources close to both Universities searches.
Treadwell is a graduate of Miami of Ohio and was a four-year starter and a captain. He also returned to Miami to coach running backs and wide receivers.
Contrary to reports, neither school has contacted MSU asking for permission to speak to him and he HAS NOT interviewed with any school. Although Treadwell will listen if asked, any reports of his wanting to leave or looking to jump at the first head-coaching job are false. He is very close to Mark Dantonio and has a very good situation with the Spartan program.
Treadwell (as well as all of the assistant coaches) are in line to receive significant raises at MSU this off-season as part of Mark Dantonio's restructuring of his deal. Dantonio has insisted to Athletic Director Mark Hollis that any renegotiation of his deal, MUST CONTAIN significant pay increases for his staff.
Treadwell also has a son, Blake, who is a highly touted defensive tackle prospect who has committed to MSU as part of their 2009 football recruiting class.
