Red Wings 8 Avalanche 2 (Red Wings win series 4-0)

DENVER (AP) - The Detroit Red Wings have closed out a lopsided series with a lopsided win.

Johan Franzen recorded a hat trick and the Red Wings completed a four-game sweep by blasting the Avalanche 8-2 in Denver. Franzen provided power-play, short-handed and even-strength goals while the Red Wings were scoring seven straight times.

It was Franzen's second hat trick in three games, giving him 11 goals in the postseason. He scored nine times in the series, matching Colorado's total.

Henrik Zetterberg chipped in two goals and two assists as the Red Wings advanced to the Western Conference finals against either Dallas or San Jose. Mikael Samuelsson also scored twice in the rout.

Jose Theodore and Peter Budaj (BOO'-dy) faced a total of 34 shots in the first 40 minutes. Theodore was pulled late in the opening period after surrendering three goals on 15 shots.

Colorado's Joe Sakic assisted on goals by Tyler Arnason and John-Michael Liles.
